Fascinating and soothing mostly abstract patterns printed on one side. Markers will bleed through so use a paper behind. The markers may also hide the text description of the next pattern if the colors are dark-- If you like markers perhaps begin from the back of the book and work forward so you have the text while you are working on the pattern. The last chapter shows you how to create your own patterns.I saw the fractal pattern and realized it looked like the aura I get when a migraine is coming on. I became absorbed trying to capture the feeling of pulsing colors. The patterns are so fundamental you can find what you need in them.
Whoever said coloring books are for kids was dead wrong. This coloring book is amazing. Unfortunately it’s nearly identical to the other book by the same author, Snowflake Seashell Star: Colouring Adventures in Numberland. If you already have the other book you can skip this one as many of the designs are identical. If you’ve never seen either please read on.This book has page after page of amazing designs and patterns that will keep you entertained and occupied for hours. The book also shows how to create your own patterns and designs and includes several geometric based games and activities. The pictures range from fractals to repeating geometric shapes to organic designs like cells. It also includes images made of animals, knots, etc. The designs range from simple to incredibly intricate. It’s the perfect time to break out that huge set of colored pencils. This is the perfect gift for anyone who likes to doodle or appreciates geometry and symmetry.
Gorgeous when colored! My suggestions are 1. some of the designs have such tiny spaces they're impossible to color i.e. fractals. Maybe if you had a needle tip and a magnifying glass....2. They need to have tear out pages so we can lay them flat, 3. thicker paper to accommodate markers & watercolor pencils (thin paper bleeds). Nevertheless I love this book.
Been under a lot of stress lately, and man does this book take the edge off. A bunch of markers, podcasts, and a large glass of wine... and BAM... all that existential crisis melts away. Worried about car payments? Girlfriend dump you? Kids acting up? Well I have good news for you, friends, this coloring book (and possibly responsibly used alcohol) are the way to betterment.
Dazzling and calming at the same time, this unique coloring book combines mathematics and art in a way that delights. Color the patterns and create your own. I'd highly recommend for yourself or for a gift. So cleverly, artistically, and creatively done. Even my 5 year old daughter loves it.
I love the patterns, a unique coloring book! I regret that the pages don't rip out, and that the book is small compared to others I have. It is also thick, and tightly bound, so hard to lay flat. Only able to use chalk, since markers with bleed through. With a bit of redesign, this would be a great coloring book!
I gave this book to my adult daughter for her birthday. She loves it and finds it both enjoyable and relaxing to use. We were both fascinated by the extra information such as how to make your own designs and the mathematical basis. Great purchase
I bought this as a gift for one of my computer-generated friends, but I found myself compulsively flipping through it - to the point where I bought a second copy for myself!Honest, it's about five hundred times more interesting than it looks. Go on, give it a try and surprise yourself!
