The recipes use easy-to-find ingredients and focuses on whole-foods. There's also information on cooking skills and menu planning. I was very happy to see WW-friendly recipes for things that I've been craving and missing, like chicken noodle soup, chili, and Vietnamese sandwiches. I've been able to use this cookbook for my meal planning. I feel nourished and satisfied after eating and not a bit deprived.

The low food point instant pot poultry recipes especially the chicken recipes were awesome. They are very healthy and taste great. The Instant Pot Low Point Soups were also delicious and healthy. I tried a lot of them and they were splendid. I recommend this cookbook to everyone who has Instant Pot Electric Pressure Cooker.

For me, this is one of the best ways I appreciate authors who put in their best to make sure that customers healthy by giving us healthy and delicious recipes. I should have read the other reviews. Luckily, you are reading this... so move along.This is NOT "The Secret Garden". It is "A CONSIDERABLY ABRIDGED Cliff's Notes style childrens re-enactment of The Secret Garden". Nowhere in the description did it say that this was not the real book. It's like half an inch think written in 25 pt. font. My 10 year old daughter read it in less than an hour. Her last book.... Little Women. The real one. 800 pages. I promised her she would like this. Instead she just looked at me like..."really?". And I don't blame her. Seller should update the description.Sorry, but anyone else leaving a higher rating may simply not realize that they received a fraud.PROS: Very pretty cover. Hardback.CONS: See everything I wrote above.

I am not really sure how I missed out on this book as a child so I decided to read it with my daughter. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and zipped through it in just a few days. Frances Hodgson Burnett shares some amazing insights into human nature with the reader. My daughter exclaimed at one point, â€œHow can Mary see that Colin is spoiled but not see that she was the same at first too?â€ Led to some great discussions for sure! I also thought it was amazing that Burnett at times switches between different third person limited perspectives and we even have some of the events in the garden narrated from the point of view of the robin! Such clever writing!Some reviewers complained about the fact that many of the characters speak with a Yorkshire accent and Frances Hodgson Burnett wrote it phonetically the way the characters pronounced the words. I thought it added to the fun! I tried to speak with the broad Yorkshire accent as I read it out loud and changed my voice for the different characters. My daughter and I both loved it. The Yorkshire dialect was interesting and we have been trying to throw some of the words we learned into conversation such as â€œwickâ€ meaning alive or lively. From my point of view, that beats trying to throw something modern like â€œon fleekâ€ into conversation!

I really enjoyed this book. The characters were very well developed. The story was interesting, it was difficult to put down the book. The writing style, the description of events... you name it.. everything is just perfect. Thus it deserves a 5 star rating.This was my first ever kindle in motion ebook and it was good enough not know what exactly to expect. Say 10-15 pictures with motion in a book with around 21 chapters and over 250 pages. There were very few pages with illustration in motion (not many) and others with sketches of flowers. There were branches on all corners of each page and i loved that as the story proceeds, those blanches are full of leaves and flowers.I enjoyed reading this book and I hope you do too. I never read this as a child, and I think I'm glad. Reading it now, as an over-60, garden-loving mom with lots of life experience, I think I appreciate it a lot more, although I would have loved the mystery as a kid. Now I can appreciate the serious racism, the sad child(ren) neglect, the rather pagan awakening to nature (clothed as "Magic"), and the joyous, if obvious, ending. I believe the writing was very good for its time, and had no problem with the Yorkshire dialect. Mary and Colin and Dickon all struck me as very believable characters, and the changes wrought in Mary and Colin were overall pretty credible, although they happened a bit too quickly. I had more of a problem with Archibald's rejection of his son for ten whole years. Dwelt just a bit much on the beauty and changeableness of the moors. Well worth reading.

Colorful illustrations of safety tips accompany each spread. The cookbook appears to target traditional Ashkenazic Jewish families, as no mention of the origin of the holiday is made and all spellings reflect Ashkenazi pronunciation ("charoses," "bas mitzvah"). In addition, some ingredients, such as a frozen gefilte fish roll, may be difficult to find in communities without a large Kosher grocery. Each recipe notes whether it is meat, dairy, or pareve and gives a suggested number of servings. The introduction states that gluten-free recipes are noted; however, only three recipes are marked "GF," while a number of recipes contain no gluten (most of the fruit desserts, the salads, etc.) and should be marked as such for the ease of cooks flipping through the recipes. Another organizational weakness is the lack of an index in a cookbook containing so many recipes with a great variety of ingredients. Let My Children Cook is a kid friendly books that is well organized. It starts out with 2 pages of safety tips. The table of contents is easy to follow. The food categories are in an oversized font that is a different color from the recipes. Each section of the book has its own color coded fonts. The recipes range from simple snacks that require minimal preparation and no cooking to complex foods that requires multiple steps and some experience in the kitchen. It would have been helpful to designate a level of difficulty on each recipe. The selection is geared toward a youthful audience who would like to spend time in the kitchen during Passover. Adults will find many recipes enticing. Although I did not have time to test out any of the recipes, the directions appear to be easy to follow. Many of the foods can be eaten year-round. The book also includes a handful of craft projects.

I think this is a great cookbook for all ages (unless you prefer those recipes with millions of steps and ingredients that take all day to prepare.)Simple, healthy, yummy recipes suitable for Passover and all year long. Salads, soups, smoothies and more. I made the salmon latkes with panko (instead of the listed matzo meal) since it is not Passover and had great results.The illustrations are adorable and make using the recipes fun. Also, its printed on shiny, durable paper that looks like it won't tear easily.All the basics are here, like chicken soup, seder needs like charoset, and a variety of kid friendly recipes that aren't the same old tired Pesach regulars. My kids especially want to make the Marshmallow Ice Cream.This is the first kid-focused Pesach cookbook and I'm happy to be adding this one to my collection!

Strawberry Snow (a simple strawbery sorbet recipe) and Crunchy Chicken Strips will be appearing at my house during the week of Passover. My kids love dinosaurs and they love sports. All of Lisa Wheelers books are great! I am reading a Dino book almost every night so we keep adding to our collection so that mommy gets a variety :) The books are long but they hold the attention of my 4 and 5-yo boys because of the great story lines (good rhyming) and great illustrations. Definitely recommend!

About the Author

Ted Haigh, a.k.a. Dr. Cocktail, makes his living as a graphic designer in the Hollywood movie industry and has worked on such spectacles as O Brother Where Art Thou?, American Beauty, and The Insider. "Vintage Spirits and Forgotten Cocktails" is a cocktail recipe book, but--as far as recipe books go--is quite readable and is both easy to digest in part or to read cover-to-cover, depending on your mood. Ted Haigh provides detailed (and interesting) back stories on most of the drinks featured in the book, as well as sidebar sections on many of the lesser-known spirits that the recipes call for. In addition to the main parts of the book, Haigh includes an introduction that covers the resurgence of classic cocktails, a glossary, a bibliography, and a resource guide to help you find many of the rarer ingredients he mentions throughout the text. Haigh clearly put a lot of thought and effort into compiling such a comprehensive guide, and it shows: The book is nicely put together and is wonderfully cohesive, with many of the recipes including references to other, similar or related recipes that can be found elsewhere within the book.I do have a few complaints about the book: First of all, it's spiral-bound, which makes it nice as a recipe book and not so nice as something to sit down and read through. Second, the recipes are often not updated to modern tastes and are geared towards the sweet palates of those who originally created the drinks. For example, try the first cocktail listed, the Almagoozlum, which is virtually undrinkable given its syrupy combination of 1.5 ounces of both Chartreuse and simple syrup, with no citrus to balance. Make sure to carefully review the recipes before pouring and shaking, in order to avoid pouring expensive ingredients down the drain. Finally, the resources section at the end of the book, while a great addition, generally favors a few extremely overpriced Internet retailers. Google around and you'll easily find better options.All in all, despite these few issues, I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in learning more about the hows, whys, and whens of classic cocktails. I suspect that many of these recipes were forgotten for a good reason (certainly the Almagoozlum!), but just as many deserve to be revisited so that they can once again grace drinkers' glasses. And even if you find the recipes to be entirely without merit, the background stories will still make this book a worthwhile purchase.

This book has been a lot of fun for us.We recently got into making cocktails after renovating the family room, which has a built-in bar from the 60s. After a year of stocking it and making a lot of standard, popular drinks and trying recipes we found online, we started exploring with bitters and aperitifs and some of the less common spirits.That's why this book was a lot of fun for us. There are classic, original recipes for some of the more common drinks we'd already been making, and it was fun comparing them. And there are a lot of unusual drinks we've never heard of. Plus all of the interesting historical backgrounds.What we did was go through page by page, find something interesting that we have ingredients for, read about it and make it and taste. Then on to the next page! It'll take some time to go through it all (I hope) but it's entertaining.As for the ingredients, many cocktails can be made with basic bar liquors (make sure you have some bitters and both dry & sweet vermouth, at least). I'd say that if your bar is stocked with the basics, all you'll want to do is flip through for a few of the unusual things you don't already have so you can try something new. And then have some fun!

This my second copy of this book (my first one got lost while moving). I love the stories and background information that is written with each recipe. This book is functional and educational. I will say it is a VERY expensive hobby to get in to though! There are a lot of rare ingredients that need to be special ordered for certain drinks. I have had so much fun inviting people over to try out these drinks though! We go through the book and make different recipes and divide up one serving between all of us and move on to the next drink. Itâ€™s a great way to find favorites and not get too sloshed ; ).

Designed from the get go by a graphic artist with full artistic control and an obsessive and loving attention to detail this book delights at least four of the five senses - okay, all five if you like the smell of good ink) done with exhaustive attention to subject material, layout, paper, printing and virtually every other aspect one could think of.This is a must have classic tome on mixology and of course on classic mixology.While there are many new reprints of classic bar and mixing manual today this one is especially useful from a practical and entertainment standpoint. The wire binding, relatively spill proof paper , backstories and type size/font make it extremely easy to read and use- unlike many of its competitors.Covering 100 extremely hard to find but very worthwhile recipes and the back stories to regale your audience while preparing said recipes.

It's rare that a book provides so many quality, thought-provoking ideas for Chefs and Food lovers everywhere. Not just what to prepare, but where to go and what adventurous items to order. (I don't even live in Atlanta, but travel there quite a bit.)At home I've prepared a number of the recipes to enhance our standard fare, both by preparing a main from the book with my usual sides, or conversely spicing-up mains with incredible specialty accompaniments. In both cases, the results made the meal special and most importantly exciting.The book has certainly expanded my list of "go to" restaurants in the Atl. area. As a self-proclaimed foodie, I enjoyed reading insights from the chefs and restaurant owners about their offerings. That combined with Kate's keen sense of style, and focus on the overall dining experience, created for me a guidebook for expanding my dining out and must-try dishes."The Atlanta Chefs Table," (The Big Peach) by KPK, is to me, a multi-tasking kitchen and dining focused, must have book for food lovers in the Atlanta area. Additionally, this particular book includes quality recipes for any chef anywhere to prepare and embrace.

This is one of the best cookbooks in my collection - and I love cookbooks. The recipes are outstanding and the photography is beautiful -- makes you want to try every single one. This has been so well put together and Kate Kordsmeier has done a wonderful job of describing the dishes and the chefs. It also makes me want to travel to Atlanta to visit these restaurants.

She picks all the right chefs and restaurants that capture what the culinary scene in Atlanta is about, and the recipes are really done in a way that you could make them at home. Great Book!

What an incredible book for both those who love to dine out or create unforgettable meals at home! This book reminds me of Gourmet magazine's last editor in chief Ruth Reichlâ€™s â€œThe Gourmet Cookbook" because Ms. Kordsmeier showcases each recipe with a food loverâ€™s eye (or rather taste buds) for what is so special about the restaurant, the locale, the chef, the ingredients and the finale â€œthe recipeâ€. If you love to cook, you will find these recipes delightful with complete cooking instructions and in most cases easy to find ingredients. If you are one who loves to dine out, this is the quintessential guide to the Atlanta dining scene covering everything food and drink from restaurants to bars to breweries to farmerâ€™s markets and so much more. On top of everything else, the photography is exceptional. This book will be my â€œgo toâ€ gift for anyone moving to Atlanta or for any of my â€œfoodieâ€ friends.

This book is a nice resource for the culinary happenings in Atlanta. However, I am disappointed that the recipes do not include garnishing & plating instructions to match the beautiful photos.

Everyone should own this southern cookbook in their personal collection. Kate knows food. Trust me. I've been fortunate to have dinner prepared by Kate.

I'm generally not a fan of traditional cookbooks as you can find virtually any recipe online and they take up a lot of space in the kitchen cabinets. Kate's book though is a different story and occupies a prominent place in my kitchen. She has assembled a collection of recipes for the quintessential dishes at some of Atlanta's top restaurants. I've enjoyed these dishes many times in the restaurants, so it's wonderful to be able to practice making them at home! On top of that, Kate includes wonderful narrative on the restaurants and their chefs. Even if you have no interest in cooking, this book is an excellent read just to learn more about the great restaurateurs of Atlanta.
