This is actually a really old book. And to be fair I purchased it used for 99 cents. That said I later drscivered that it's on line at the Unity Church website and much more robust and in depth where you can look up specific words to find their metaphysical meanings.So don't buy the book it's much better on line.
Knowing the original meaning of Hebrew and Greek names along with Filmore's metaphysical interpretations adds a deeper understanding of Bible characters and events.
One of the most insightful references I've ever gotten my hands on. It digs deep into spiritual meanings and adds context to scripture. I love it!
Back in the early 1990s, I was studying Edgar Cayce's in-depth psychic readings on the Book of Revelation. I was particularly interested in his interpretation of the mystic symbols contained in the book--especially the angels spoken of in the Book. A friend gave me a copy of the "Metaphysical Bible Dictionary" and it was an invaluable spiritual resource in my personal life, and my professional life as a writer. I'm convinced that Dr. Fillmore (the founder of Unity Church) tapped into the Universal Consciousness when he wrote this amazing dictionary. To my amazement, his metaphysical definitions matched Edgar Cayce's exactly in many cases. In 1994, I published a book, "Edgar Cayce on Angels, Archangels, and the Unseen Forces," and the Metaphysical Dictionary was a primary resource in the chapter "Angels in the Book of Revelation." I found Fillmore's book was extremely helpful in all facets of my spiritual writings. Another great resource (written with a great sense of humor as well) is Gustav Davidson's "Dictionary of Angels." Excellent (and mandatory) tool for researching, reading and understanding the Bible.
Not a concise book by any means! Very expansive, exhaustive work by Charles Filmore, one of the earlier pioneers in collecting interpretive data. Easy to use.
Paid $40 for my hard covered one but this is the best bargain for the money. Order it to have a better understanding of the Bible.
This is one of the best all-in-one reference guides for the metaphysical meaning of the Bible. The definitions are pretty good although some definitions are forced and non-contextual. There isnt as much depth in this book as you would find in the traditional Kabbalah sources but as I mentioned this book is an all-in-one reference. The definitions contained herein are not exhaustive but they do serve to instigate deeper contemplation.
