I found a reference to The Gospel of Thomas in another book that I was reading this morning. I read some of it online, but while I could understand some sayings, most were at least somewhat incomprehensible while others were completely so. After viewing the Amazon books that are about this gospel, I chose this one because it was half the price of the others and, more importantly, the longer reviews here demonstrated to me that this book would be the most helpful.I am loving this book. Each saying is listed independently as basically its own short "chapter." Following each saying is one or more related Bible verses (this link really makes one wonder why some early Church Fathers considered The Gospel of Thomas as heretical). Following the Bible verses is the interpretation of each saying by Passerby Dave. With these interpretations, the incomprehensible becomes clear and applicable to my own life.I also appreciate his handling of saying #114, simply stating that it's not explored in this book because "[i]t clearly was not one of the original sayings," and he gives several brief points to support this assertion.
I like everying about the book, it helped me to see what was being focused with some of the stories of Christ. Though I can understand some people reading this as hard to follow it due to how it is being stated. Yet for me it help to clearify what was before hard to follow as it always seemed that something was missing in translations but that is how I think.I recomend this to anyone who wants to know more in depth of what writen in the pass, this fills in those missing scripts.

Same old Thomas sayings, just wanted an ebook copy
From what I understand of Gnostic philosophy, I understand the hymn of the Pearl and the derived Gospel of Thomas interpretations in this book to be a version of Gnosticism by the author. As a God searcher myself, I was being pulled into the whole idea by many of the sayings and their derived interpretations. Some of the interpretations, however, seem to be strongly forced to fit his mold, not making sense. To me this one note song starts strong, making me consider my own spiritual identity, but ends with tarnished credibility. I will continue to consider the twin model since I thinks it's a useful metaphor, but I won't make a religion out of it.
