Lots of stories in the Four Horsemen universe; stories shortly after Alpha Contracts to near current 4HU events. All stories are good, a couple of standouts for me were Lucky, Deadly Dutchman, Return to Sender, and A Mother's Favor.
Made me laugh, made me cry and saved a kitty. I Read new authors(to me), and old familiar authors and by old, I don't mean age, but welcomed from previous readings.
Another fine collection of shorter stories set in the 4 horseman universe.

Usually with any good anthology you’ll get a number of short stories, a few will be not bad but not all that good, the majority will be pretty good; and with luck, one or two will be great memorable stories. Much like their first anthology of Four Horsemen stories, A Fistful of Credits, Chris and Mark turned that bromide on its head. Out of the eighteen stories in Tales from the Lyon’s Den, there are just two that I’m considering of average goodness. The remaining sixteen are all great stories. There is quite a collection of authors here, a few of them are Jake Bible, Tim C. Taylor, Kevin McLaughlin, Terry Mixon, Kacey Ezell, Marisa Wolf, and of course Chris Kennedy and the amazing Mark Wandrey. There are several new authors here that I've never had the pleasure of reading before and can hope that they will be joining the Four Horsemen universe with books of their own. So, get this book. It will certainly help if you have a passing familiarity with the Four Horsemen universe and its characters, but even if you don’t this will still be an enjoyable book. Again, an amazing collection of stories.
So, this is another collection of short stories in the 4 Horsemen Universe. If you like and regularly read military sci-fi, you can probably reason out enough context and background to enjoy most, if not all of the tales. Where this book really shines though, is if you've already read some of the other stories and novels in the collection. Current fans of the series will eat this one up! Not all of the stories provide background for the series and main themes, but most of them do, and there are some nice tidbits for your enjoyment.I would loosely describe the authors as character writers, and it's easy to get invested in the subjects, even in some of the anthologies like this one. There are a lot of characters in this series, and a lot of diverging story-lines. Considering the number of authors and different directions the collection goes, there are very few story-line conflicts or continuity issues. All of the 4HU books are very well edited, correctly formatted, and a pleasure to read!I received an ARC of this book, and had already read it in the last few days. I bought it this morning, as soon I got notification it was live on Amazon. The authors ask that ARC readers leave a review, but do not pressure to buy the books. I always buy them anyway! This is some of the best military sci-fi you'll find!! As with any 'shorts' collection, you'll have some stories you like better than others. If you buy this or another of the anthologies, one of the side-benefits is discovering new authors whose stories and writing style you enjoy the most. I've read several good books by the authors, outside of the 4HU, as a result.Get these books! You'll have your favorites, but there's not a bad one in the bunch!!
