About the Author
Paloma Valdivia was born in Chile where she studied design, followed by post-graduate studies in illustration in Barcelona. She has collaborated with several media companies, museums and publishing houses, and she has published many illustrated children’s books. She won a prestigious Plaque award at the Biennial of Illustrations, Bratislava, and the Spanish edition of this book won Santiago’s municipal award, Mexico’s CANIEM award and an honorable mention for the Bologna Ragazzi Award. Paloma lives in Chile.

A librarian recommended this book to us. We'd just lost a child to miscarriage and were seeking ways to explain it to our other children (3 & 4 yrs.). Thank God we check all books prior to reading them to the kids. This trainwreck depicts a child in a woman's womb along with a host of other animals, as though a person can give birth to animals. Other gems include the line, "Those of us here are just here. And so we'd best enjoy our selves."No purpose, no meaning. Just the first lesson in selfish hedonism.And this thing won awards?!"What Happens When A Loved One Dies?" By Dr. Jillian Roberts is a far superior (and quite lovely) book.
Lovely and moving book with great illustrations. No mention of god or religious ideas of heaven, which makes it appealing to some and not to others, I suppose.
