About the Author

Ian Utley studied at the University of Wales and trained as a teacher at Bishop Grosseteste University College, Lincoln. He worked in education in Ghana for many years, published a book for learners of the Twi language, was a columnist for the Ghanaian newspaper Weekend World, and was an advisor to the Ministry of Tourism and Diasporan Relations in Accra. He also organized cultural, ecotourism, and language-learning activities for foreigners. Now back in Britain, he is the Cultural Services Advisor to Lincolnshire County Council.

This was a "best buy"! Excellent information on history, culture and social customs. Truly made a difference in the quality of my visit, which was fabulous, by the way. I highly recommend this to anyone traveling to Ghana for the first time.

My son used this on his trip to Ghana. Said it was very useful for an overview of the country and a cultural understanding.

Much smaller and more concise than the Bradt guide to GHANA. But indeed, "the essential guide to customs & culture". I highlighted insights on almost every page. Very practical, easy to read, and small enough to pack.

It explains every eventuality that a tourist could encounter when they visit Ghana. I especially love the pre Modern and Modern history in the beginnings the book. I would recommend this book to any one interested in Africa and Ghana culture. The quick and a to the point understanding of the people.

I have traveled in Ghana numerous times and was looking for a book that I could share with Learning Abroad students. After some of the comments about accommodations of slavery, I just couldn't trust the rest of the book.

It is a perfect shortly and precisely described introduction to Ghana and its culture. I'm moving there in a few days and for me it was a perfect beforehand introduction - on the basis of the you can go experience it for yourself!

Everything in this book is on you tube or Adafruit website, I'm looking for more information not recycled how to. I want to know more about what it can do and what can attached to it.

A nice overview of creating wearable clothing. While specific to Adafruit Flora, the information can be applied to others such as Gemma and Lilypad. I would recommend getting the Kindle version and save both money and a few trees.

No Reason to purchase this book. It's simply a compilation of information all available for free online.

It's ok. Adafruit has such a fantastic web site with running examples, you really don't need this book.

This book is a great resource for anyone looking to build wearable tech using Adafruit's Flora. The explanations about how to program the Flora and connect various devices to it including neo pixels.

A copy/pasta from the website at an extremely marked up price. Your getting nothing in here you can't find in the online tutorials, a lot less actually. I'd be great if you could use this as supplemental learning material in a classroom setting for children but for the price and lack of pages with viable content vs using oversized imagery and size 14pt font to make it the 100 page mark, its an embarrassment.

I like Becky Stern’s video tutorials. These are tutorials are very informative, shot and well done. I can’t say anything good about this book. It is pretty much useless. I would recommend Sew Electric and Make: Wearable Electronics: Design, prototype, and wear your own interactive garments
